pyAR'09

Plans for pyAR'09 have started. A annual gathering of Python Enthusiasts in Arkansas hosted by the Department of Computer Science at the University of Central Arkansas scheduled for Saturday, November 14th.

Registration is now open!

Click on the Registration link in the sidebar to sign up for pyArkansas. It's quick, easy and painless.

Spending the night?

We have made arrangements with the Holiday Inn Express in Conway for our out-of-town speakers and recommend you stay there, too. They have given us a rate of $75.00/night if you mention that you are coming to pyArkansas.

2370 Sanders Street, Conway, AR 72032 (501) 450-9112

Open Space Announced

After the talk on the Twisted Network framework, we open the floor to anyone wanting to speak for up to 20 minutes. There will be a signup sheet (or chalkboard) for you to register your time and subject. This is a great way to share ideas, dreams, gripes or projects with other programmers.

New Class Offering: Using Blender

We are pleased to announce that Gordon Fisher has agreed to present a class on the Blender. What's Blender?, you ask? It's a system to create amazing videos just like those big studios. Check out http://www.blender.org/. Let's get the word out to graphic design and art departments about this class.

Gordon is an award-winning animator and programmer. He has produced animations for clients as diverse as Ford Motor Co., Jazzercise, and World Book Multimedia Encyclopedia. He has written a variety of software for customers including U.S. Army and Caterpillar. His work has been displayed at the National Air and Space Museum.

He has spoken at Siggraph, talking about building Virtual Worlds and has done reviews of 3D animation tools for Desktop Video Producer. He was the President of the Desert Internet Group, and the Digital Animation Society of the Coachella and is on the board of the Bicycle Advocacy of Central Arkansas.

Blog Posting: "Arkansas Gets It"

Now with Open Space!

Due to popular demand, we will be opening another class room during the first two afternoon talks for "Open Space". If you have something you want to talk about or show off this is the place to do it! We will have sign up sheets at registration, so bring your your stuff and tell us all about it!

A meeting of Python Enthusiasts in Central Arkansas and Beyond!

You are invited to attend the first annual Python User Conference in Central Arkansas (don't live in the area? "Come Anyway!!") to be held at the University of Central Arkansas on October 4, 2008.

This is sponsored by the Python Artists of Arkansas (PyAR2) user group with help from our friends in the Computer Science Department at UCA and the Conway Chamber of Commerce. Everything is planned and run by volunteers "just like you". Why not join our mailing list and help out?

If you are planning to attend, please sign up using the Registration link over to the left. It does not cost anything and will give us an idea on how many people to plan on having.

For more information

You can view the "official" flyer here.

You can get information about attending here.

Find out more about lodging or the conference location.

Feel free to contact Chad Cooper (supercooper@gmail.com) for more information.
