History

This tradition started in 2007 when the Houston Python user group hosted the gathering, and continued in 2008 when the Austin user group hosted the event. In 2009, we decided to name the event pyTexas, based on the naming conventions started at the successful pyArkansas and pyOhio events. (The name 'pycamp' was everyone's favorite in 2006 and 2007 but was easily confused with a commercial venture of the same name.)
